Scoliosis: Posturing for Wellness-Scoliosis Screening in Milwaukee

Scoliosis: Tips For A Straighter Spine

Scoliosis is a lateral deviation of the normal vertical line of the spine greater than 10 degrees.  The lateral curvature may be mild, moderate or severe.  Curves of the spine may be detected in the thoracic, lumbar, or thoracolumbar regions.

The onset of scoliosis usually develops during the years when the bones are growing the fastest, between 9-14 years old; affecting boys and girls equally.  Over four-fifths of scoliosis cases are idiopathic scoliosis-curves that have no known cause.  Most individuals will never feel pain when scoliosis is developing.  As a result, regular check ups and early detection is pertinent.  If detected early, you can receive treatment that may control the condition and prevent further musculoskeletal and systemic complications.
