Andy Kerk

President, PT, ATC, CMTPT

Andy has practiced physical therapy since 1983 and has developed into a respected leader in the Milwaukee-area orthopedic and sports physical therapy community. In 2014, the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association selected Andy as the Physical Therapist of the Year Award winner. He founded the independent free-standing PT practice of Body Mechanics in 1996 and has successfully assembled a talented team of highly skilled manual physical therapists to serve the area.

His dual background of athletic training and physical therapy, combined with his skills in analyzing human movement, communication, and gifted sense of touch allow him to help athletes and other individuals optimize their physical abilities. Andy taught continuing education to physical therapists through the Institute of Physical Art for over 30 years as well as presenting at many state physical therapy meetings. He gained valuable experience in mentoring and guiding other PT’s in their quest to grow and improve their manual physical therapy and treatment skills. His focus is now in support of the experienced and talented team of PT’s at Body Mechanics along with practice management and care of his own patients.

Andy is known as a resource for other physical therapists for consultation on difficult cases as well as for treatment of their own injuries. His advanced training includes Functional Manual Therapy™ proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), myofascial release, muscle energy techniques, specific functional exercise, foot orthotics, and dry needling methods for trigger point treatment.

Jenna Mielke

PT, DPT, CMTPT, Milwaukee Clinic Director

Jenna dreamt of being a physical therapist long ago after being a patient herself and suffering two knee injuries requiring extensive rehabilitation. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where she was on the women’s basketball team. Jenna values her personal experiences as an athlete and the ability to relate to the mental aspect of injury and recovery.

Jenna completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) at South College in Knoxville, Tennessee. She has pursued additional training to become pelvic health certified with the American Physical Therapy Association Section on Women’s Health. This valuable specialty is unique within the Body Mechanics staff. Females suffering from varying degrees of incontinence, pelvic pain, and coccygeal (tailbone) pain can benefit from this type of physical therapy. Problems may be related to child labor and delivery and post-surgical complications. Through careful diagnosis, manual therapy, education, and guided exercise progression, Jenna can help resolve many of these issues. Jenna also enjoys treating general orthopedic conditions for active individuals of all ages. In addition, she has experience working with oncology patients who may be suffering the ill effects of cancer treatment.

Her favorite part of working in the physical therapy profession is establishing a personal connection with each and every patient and getting to know them beyond just their physical presentation. She believes strongly in treating the patient as a whole and tailoring the rehabilitation to the individual.

Jenna utilizes a comprehensive treatment approach including skilled hands-on work with manual therapy and dry needling, as well as education on movement and home management tips to help patients improve function and reduce pain. Jenna works full time at our downtown Milwaukee clinic and has available appointment hours Monday-Friday. She is also designated as the Clinic Director of the downtown Milwaukee clinic with part of her time dedicated to managing a smooth, efficient operation in support of excellent customer service and supporting her teammates.

Elizabeth Melville

PT, DPT, CMTPT

Elizabeth believes strongly in one on one personalized care in order to allow for the best, most individualized treatment possible. She is a good listener and strong supporter of patient education which allows each person to have control of their own health and rehabilitation process. She believes that the combination of strong manual therapy treatment interventions with specific exercise prescriptions can provide great results for her patients. She is a strong proponent that treatment must be tailored to fit each patient’s individual lifestyle and goals. Elizabeth enjoys working with a variety of patients including all activity levels, abilities, and ages.

Elizabeth graduated from Marquette University with a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology. She continued her education through the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association’s Manual Orthopedic Physical Therapy Professional Development Program focusing on improving her manual physical therapy skills and clinical reasoning. She enjoys learning and has continued her professional education through many orthopedic and manual based courses through the Institute of Physical Art and other respected continuing education programs.

In addition to treating patients, Elizabeth teaches in Marquette University’s Exercise Science and Physical Therapy programs, introducing undergraduate students to the world of Kinesiology and teaching and refining the skills of graduate students in Orthopedics.

Gabrielle Newton

PT, DPT

Gabby has always had a knack for health and wellness, and as such was keen to start her physical therapy journey immediately upon entering college. Gabby graduated from Milwaukee’s very own Marquette University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT). She enjoys working with patients of a variety of general orthopedic conditions, and always strives to be their biggest cheerleader. She approaches 1:1 treatment ready to actively listen and collaborate with her patients, believing that patience and teamwork are some of the biggest keys for success.

Gabby continues to expand her professional skill set, regularly engaging in continuing education taught by master clinicians at the Institute of Physical Art (IPA), and has even begun working towards a certification in canine rehabilitation therapy (CCRT) in order to treat her favorite four-legged friends as well. Gabby’s goals for the future are to begin work towards her certification in dry needling and expand her Spanish-speaking skills in order to help even more patients enhance their function and minimize their pain.

Matthew Kinkade

PT, DPT, CMTPT, Pewaukee Clinic Director

Physical therapy is a second career for Matt – he worked as a carpenter and served with a disaster relief organization in his early 20’s. It was here that service and helping others became a passion that propelled him into physical therapy education. Matt’s approach to physical therapy starts with the understanding that everyone is created on purpose, for purpose. His professional skills and development are an expression of his core purpose to compassionately meet the needs of those he serves and that they, in turn, become strong to serve their family and community.

Matt graduated from Concordia University – Wisconsin in 2013 with his Doctor of Physical Therapy. Since that time, Matt has pursued professional growth with further certifications in trigger point dry needling (Myopain Seminars) and with the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA.) In addition, he has level 1 training in the Schroth Rehabilitation Method for scoliosis. Matt credits all his mentors and former colleagues who provided one on one mentorship for his professional development and the advancement of his clinical reasoning and interventions. He has extensive experience treating spine conditions including neck and low back pain, radiculopathy, postoperative spine and knee surgeries, anterior knee pain, shoulder impingement, adult scoliosis, and TMJ/D.

Carl Goehner

PT, DPT, OCS, CMTPT

Carl’s approach to physical therapy includes a thorough assessment of the problem area and neighboring structures with a detailed interview and history of the patient. Following the Body Mechanics practice paradigm, Carl utilizes a combination of hands-on, skilled, manual therapy intervention along with individualized home exercise and self-care methods to address each patient’s symptoms and limitations. Carl is an excellent listener and communicator and a strong believer in educating his patients about the factors that contribute to their symptoms thereby training them to be active participants in their rehab.

Carl graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison after earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from there as well. Following graduation he completed a one year orthopedic physical therapy residency through UW and Meriter Hospitals in Madison. He has also earned Board Certification in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (OCS). Carl is our most recent graduate of certification with honors from the Institute of Physical Art’s Functional Manual Therapy™ certification program (CFMT) obtained in August of 2017. Carl and each of the rest of our staff are among the top tier of PT’s in the country that have accomplished this challenging and highly respected certification in manual physical therapy.

Where Did Gregg Go?

After 25 years of dedicated service at Body Mechanics, Gregg Fuhrman retired at the end of 2024. His commitment to our patients and passion for physical therapy have made a lasting impact on our community, and he will be greatly missed. Our Pewaukee clinic has a team of skilled physical therapists who are always accepting new patients and eager to provide the same level of care and support that Gregg exemplified throughout his tenure.
